ABAÚJ Waste Management Ltd.

Our company, the Abaúj Hulladékgazdálkodási Kft (the Abaúj Waste Management Ltd.) or its predecessor – the Zemplén-Kom Kft. – was established in 1996 as a sole proprietorship. The objects of our company are the solid waste collection, transport and disposal among the cleaning service.

Since our establishment, we have been taking part in the waste management of 50.000 inhabitants, and many dozens of commercial entities, 58 villages in Zemplén, Abaúj, and in the Hernád-völgy – among these are Abaújszántó, Megyaszó, Halmaj, Monok, and Golop. We have the operating right of the landfill in Encs, and in Krasznokvajda.

We meet our engagements according to the long-term contracts with local governments of the villages.

The head office of our company, which was previously Miskolc, has been operating in Encs since the autumn of 2008, in the industrial area (3860 Encs, Ipartelep 631/7. hrsz.). Our customer service has earlier opened in the city in 62. Petőfi Street.

We fulfil our service activity according to the contemporary requests, by modern vehicles. They collect and transport the waste without polluting the environment (dust, odour), by the so called dust-free technology, in closed system.

Their compressing potential is 1:5, and they can unload the standard rubbish bins that are commercially available (0.12 m3; 0.24 m3; 1.1 m3)

Supporting the quick and effective circulation of information, there are cell phones on the board of the vehicles, and the monitoring is guaranteed by GPS.

We have professional colleagues to complete the public service task. Our colleagues are continuously present at fire protection, safety at work trainings, and get professional training as well. There are educational and periodical audit documents.

The personnel and material competence of our company fulfils adequately the aspects of waste treatment in connection with environmental protection and public health’s. The current laws are 213/2001. (XI.14.) Government Regulation, 169/2007. (VI.28.) Government Regulation, and 11/1996. (VII.4.) KTM Regulation (Environmental Protection Fee)

Our company realises the solid waste collection, its transportation from the villages, and its safety placement in the landfill according to the relevant acts, and in harmony with them. We attach great importance to the local characteristics. We consider the consumers’ interests in our service. The navigation system – as mentioned above – plays important role in our checking system.

The service charge includes the reparation or - if it is necessary – the change of the rubbish bins damaged by us, and even the organization of clearance.

Our customer office is available personally, by telephone and via internet as well, on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 15 p.m.

We inform our clients in cooperation with the concerned local governments, considering the local characteristics – by TV network, in local newspaper, and on bulletin boards.

About the quantity of the collected waste we make a registry that we report to the competent authorities according to relevant acts.

Last year, in February 2007, there was an important change – change of ownership. The new owner is the Cirkont Hulladékgazdálkotási Zrt (3527 Miskolc, Zsigmondy u. 34.). This company has been collecting and transporting the solid waste from Miskolc its area, and places it safely in the landfill.

The Cirkont has become a group of companies, and created three subsidiaries. Now it is among the biggest companies which deal with waste collection, transportation, and deposal in the area.

The ÉHG Északmagyarországi Hulladékgazdálkodási Zrt, (Waste Management cPlc of North Hungary) the ÓHG Ózdi Hulladékgazdálkodási Kft (Waste Management Ltd of Ózd), and the Abaúj Hulladékgazdálkodási Kft (Abaúj Waste Management Ltd) also belongs to the Cirkont group of companies. These companies provide the waste management for 290 thousand inhabitants, in 183 villages, and for several institutions in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County.

The group of companies is enthusiastic member of the Sajó-Bódva Völgye és Környéke Hulladékkezeléss Önkörmányzati Társulás (Local Government Waste Treatment Association of Sajó-Bódva Valley and its Area), that has 125 local governments as members (this number is increasing). The association has recently tendered successfully, and has won the 3.4 billion HUF financial support of the ISPA source of the EU. A modern waste management system has been built in the region with its help. Among the system, the ÉHG Zrt. operates the Sajókazai Hulladékkezelő Centrum (Waste Centre of Sajókaza), where apart from the disposal of the municipal waste, the selectively collected waste is picked out and baled.

Apart from these, in 2007, we established the Hernád Völgye és Térsége Szilárdhulladék-kezelési Önkormányzati Társulás (Solid Waste Treatment Local Government Association of Hernád Valley), that’s centre is in Encs. It has 58 foundation members, and its activity has effect on 500 inhabitants in the area. The Abaúj Hulladékgazdálkodási Kft is enthusiastic member of the Association. The aim of the Association is similar: to establish a complex waste management system, and restoration of the previous landfills. The new recent development of it is that the first part of the national tender (KEOP) was successful. The association won 133 million HUF for the preparational work (checking, environmental authorisation, technical planning). The result of it will be the restoration of 47 landfills in the area, for 2.4 billion HUF.

In the groups of company, the clients of Abaúj Hulladékgazdálkodási Kft may take part in a modern waste management system that fulfils every request and has European standard.
